All Over

Well, we have given up the allotment, finally.

We had done almost nothing on it last year, and humphing a baby over there with all the associated accoutrements was meaning I ended up never going. A 10 minute job of watering things became too big a task, even though it is only a 15min walk away.

So we decided that if we weren't making good use of it, then someone else should have it and get enjoyment out of it.

We took out a few prized tools and locked up for the last time a fortnight ago.

We hope to find somewhere with a garden at some point, having all your plants growing outside your own door seems like a much easier option! Or maybe we will get an allotment again when the baby is a bit bigger.

Sorry to hear you decided to give it up... We gave ours up in the summer and I was heartbroken. It's really hard now seeing the new people working on it from my window but as you said, it's too big a task with little ones in tow and someone else might as well use it... Hope you're all well !

Sorry to hear this. But it does sound like the right decision for you now. When the idea of the allotment is adding stress to your already busy life, it's time to rethink. I find it enough of a challenge having an allotment alongside a full-time job *without* a family (hence no updates at Courgettes & Fennel for months - I can just manage the allotment but not the blog!).

Here's hoping that you miss growing things enough to find that place with a garden sooner rather than later.

Wishing you all the best.

Oh Urban Bumpkin, I am so sorry to learn that you have given up your allotment, but I can totally understand your reasons as to why. Yes, a garden on your front door would be great, but living in soe parts of Glasgow you don't have the luxury of that green space. Wishing you the best for the future.

I've just come to have a look round you allotment to find you haven't got it any more. It must have been difficult with a baby and all the commitments that brings.
I did get a nice chilli jam recipe. Thanks.
